In April 2001, the building now known as Schouwburg Hengelo opened on the former site of the Concertgebouw. ​​In 2026, it will celebrate its 25th anniversary. A milestone!

In 2008, Pink Floyd's The Wall was one of Schouwburg Hengelo's first in-house productions. On August 22, 2008, approximately 7,000 people enjoyed a fantastic performance in the market square (in the pouring rain!).

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, The Wall will be performed again in April 2026. This time, not on Marktplein, but naturally inside the theater itself. It will be a completely new production directed by Daniël van Klaveren, artistic director of Theater Sonnevanck.

The Wall is a gift to the city and its inhabitants, hence the low entrance fee.
